Chaintech 7SJR SiS745 Review (1)
Overclocker 5 Apr 2002

This is the 3rd SiS745 board we review at OCworkbench.com. If you were using Chaintech 7SID, you would probably know that 7SJR means it is a SiS board and it has RAID. You got it, this is the first SiS745 board for AMD platform that comes equipped with a Promise ATA-100 RAID 0/1/0+1 chipset. On top of that, another first for the SiS 745 platforms is that it comes with on board 6 channel CMEDIA audio which could well be good enough for your gaming and DVD playback.

The board we have here in our labs is a sample board with BIOS dated 25/Feb/2002. The BIOS is very simple and there are basically no FSB, multiplier adjustments for overclockers. As it is targeted as a SI board, these functionalities were not built in. It is somehow a pity as an earlier beta bios does have a FSB at 1Mhz stepping allowing me to run up to 135Mhz (again why 135Mhz only ?).

The subsequent pages will be the gallery followed by benchmark results including 3DMark2001, Q3, etc.
