Nokia 7210 - Flashy, Bold and Contemporary
ngws 12th Oct 2002

Introduction

The introduction of the Ericsson T68m late last year is a much needed catalyst for a whole line of color-screen mobile devices that we see today. With more to come from other manufacturers in the very near future and 3G hovering in the background, the death of monochrome is imminent. While some companies are packing as much features as they can into a small plastic body ... others are taking the established route of putting in only the essentials. The Nokia 7210 is somewhere in-between; A mid-range phone with some 'to-have' features and the omission of others.

Nokia 7210

So let's get on with the new Nokia 7210. I spent 2 whole weeks testing this fashion Phone on the wild side (Windows detected it as a Fashion Phone :) The Nokia 7210 comes hot on the heel of their flagship model, the Nokia 7650, to fill the gap for the mainstream. The design is pretty bold and flashy with a unique keypad layout and it looks a lot better when you hold it in your hand (when compared to those you see around the net).

The back and front covers (Xpress-onTM) are removable and the retail version I have in hand is in Turquoise color.

Back/Battery

The 7210 uses the new slim-line BLD-3 720mAh battery. I compared the thickness with my 1250mAh, a 900mAh and the normal BLB-2 battery (which are in use on my 7650).

Who's the slimmest!!
