How to remove the double sided tape (2)
Overclocker 22 March 2002

After removing the heatsink from the board, we have a hard time scrubbing the heatsink to remove the double sided tape. It is time consuming and I really hate it. Why don't they just stuck the heatsink with thermal paste instead !

There is a simpler way to remove all those "dirt". What you could do is to get some kind of solvent. In this case, we use the easily available Axe Brand Oil which you can get it for less than 1 dollar.

Drop droplets of the Axe Oil onto the surface of the heatsink and use a plain cloth to scrub it. The double sided tape will "melt". You can see from the picture below the after effects of scrubbing it off with the help of the axe oil.

5 minutes later, you have a clean heatsink. Apply thermal paste onto the chipset and the base of the heatsink and attach the heatsink back onto the chipset. All done within 5 ~ 10 minutes.
