TCC Q285 Triband 4096 colour polyphonic mobile phone (1)
Overclocker 1 Aug 2002

We probably know about the SonyEricsson T68 as the first colour phone manufacturer. To my surprise, they aren't. Sony Ericsson T68 only has 256 colours whereas the TCC Q285 is probably the first phone on earth which is also tri-band and comes equipped with 4096 colours (10bits colour).

So what makes this phone so special ? Well, basically this phone was released in January 2002 in Taiwan and so far it has been selling very well in Taiwan. It's local Telco company has make efforts in promoting it as a viable alternative to European brands.

Q285 is the world first 4096 colours display mobile phone equipped with triband GSM 900, 1800 and 1900Mhz. Its folding design is very similar to Motorola phones and it has a lightweight of only 91g.  On top of that, it also supports WAP, EMS, Wallpaper, Caller ID pictures. The package also comes with full supporting software and cables for easy manipulation of the phone book and downloading of MMF polyphonic (MIDI like) songs to the phone.
