Benchmarking

All boards running in SYNC DDR333 (166/166) otherwise specified. The FSB of the various boards are :

ASROCK K7S8X : 166.64Mhz
ECS L7S7A2 : 166.65Mhz
SiS 746FX Ref board : 168.2Mhz
EPoX 8RDA+ : 167.05Mhz
ABIT KD7 : 166.88Mhz

Quake 3 Demo 001

Quake3 demo001 is a memory intensive application and we can see from the chart that the single channel chipsets all lost to the nForce2 by almost 3%. This is evident that dual channel does help.

3Dmark2001 SE Build 330

ASrock K7S8X does not seem to do too well in 3DMark2001SE. It looks like there the BIOS is not fine tuned for performance yet. As you can see from the chart, the ECS L7S7A2 and SiS ref board shows that a high of 11,000 3DMarks is possible with this chipset.

Comanche 4 Demo

In Comanche 4, we see a similar pattern. It seems that the BIOS is not well tuned in the 3D performance. Hopefully, Asrock will be able to fine tune future BIOS to improve it.
