Benchmarking

We checked out Q3 running Demo001 at 1024x768x32 Hi-Quality. In this category, the SIS 748; a single channel DDR solution lost to the nForce2 platform. This is to be expected. We see that the EPoX 8RDA3+ scoring by about 7.4%. In fact, we are in the midst of testing some other nForce2 boards and we noticed that not all nForce2 boards performs as fast. Thus the average results should still be better than the SiS 748. The ASrock K7S8X-E scores 305.4 fps which is slightly lower than 5 fps compared to the ref board.

In 3DMark2001SE, the scores are 15827 vs 16266 between the SiS 748 Ref and EPoX 8RDA3+.  Although the numbers seems to be around 439 points. That actually translates to a 2.7% difference between the two platforms. When we compare the ASrock K7S8X-E, we find that the difference is not too far off at 15719. Now we get a better idea on how the SiS 748 chipsets perform in 3Dmark2001SE.

In 3DMark2003, the difference between the three are closer. Epox 8RDA3+ scores around 1.39% faster than the SiS 748 Ref and around 1.5% faster than K7S8X-E.
