ECS A980 Desknote Gallery (1)
Overclocker 17 Mar 2003

The ECS A980 has a feast of features which will shocked the conventional notebook users. It has almost everything you can find on conventional PC without the need to spend money on expensive PCMCIA cards for extending its functionality. The desknote weighs much heavier than conventional notebooks. It has a dimension of 342.0 mm (W) x 300.0 mm (D) x 34.0 mm(min)/50.5mm(max)(H) and weighs 1.8kg.

Its dimensions is a bit large compared to notebooks. In fact, when I first look at it, it reminds me of the 80's UK Microcomputers (without a LCD screen). Nevertheless, those can't be compared to the A980 in terms of power.

The unit we received from ECS comes with a P4 2.4G processor, LCD screen, 256M RAM, DVD player. In our set up, we had some problems looking for the right converter as the power connector is a 3 pin plug that is not commonly seen here in my country which uses the UK standard.

The power button (left) and 3 configurable short cut buttons to applications. The picture on the right shows the audio connectors that can be hooked up to a 5.1 speaker set. On its right is the 10/100Mbps LAN port.

The picture below shows the DVD player supplied and the phone jack (RJ11) for dialing out using the built in 56K modem.

On the right hand panel of the A980, we see 4 USB 2.0 ports, 1 Firewire port and SIR port.
