Test Environment

  • Athlon 64 3200+
  • ASUS K8V Deluxe
  • 1 x 512M Corsair XMS3500C2 running CAS 2, 5-2-2
  • Gigabyte GV-N595U256D-P FX5950 Ultra with ForceWare 52.16
  • Powercolor XR98T-D3 Radeon 9800XT with Catalyst 3.9
  • Maxtor ATA133 HDD

5950Ultra Core Memory

Futuremark's 3DMark2001 is used and we used powerstrip to overclock the card. In our test, we can clearly see that the FX5900 Ultra series lacks behind the Radeon 9800XT even at overclocked speeds. In fact, if you were to overclock the card further than 536/1040, it will still run in this benchmark but it didn't pass the 3Dmark2003. So, we stick to this Core:536 and Mem:1040. Anything higher ends up with tears in the image. The increase in core/mem generates a 4.9% increase in speed.
