Samsung Roadshow at Swisshotel Singapore (1)
Bluetooth 1 Jul 2004

Samsung today introduced its entire range of more than 30 new audio and visual products at its roadshow held at Swisshotel Singapore. Samsung displayed a large number of products ranging from Digital Light Processing (DLP) Projection TVs, Large Screen Displays, Flat Panels, DVD Combo Players to Home Theatre Systems. Gadgets like MP3 and the Media Centre Player and a DuoCam is introduced too.

We visited the display booth and was very impressed by its lightweight Digital Light Processing (DLP) TV. As we know projection tv is bulky and heavy. The models displayed are slimmer and weigh less. The model on SP50L7 has a 50" Wide Screen and uses the DNIe technology which has four core functions : 3-D motion and Colour Optimizer, and Contrast and Detail Enhancement. The image quality is impressive for a projection tv with a 800 cd/m2 brightness and a 2500:1 ratio. It has a LCD Control Panel and should be available by August 2004 at SGD7,999.

DNIe

Samsung's display technology includes the latest image enhancement technology DNIe (Digital Natural Image Engine), which comes in Samsung’s entire new mid- to high-end range of DLP, Plasma and LCD TVs. With new and unique features such as ‘My Color Control’, Color Compensation for color weakness and a 6-time Density Enhancer to increase the number of input pixels to attain sharper detailed images, DNIe provides consumers with a perfect lifelike viewing experience.

Under the Image Optimizer, customized fine tuning includes:
- My Color Control: Allows customized color preferences, especially for colors like skin tone, green grass, and sky blue where each user has personal preferences, without affecting other colors
- Dynamic Contrast: Optimizes contrast ratio based on the precise analysis results of input images
- Intelligent Brightness Control: Detects the brightness of surroundings and allows automatic and manual brightness optimization to the environment to prevent eye fatigue and provide optimum image quality
- Compensation for Color weakness: Allows the optimum images for people with color weakness by providing nine level adjustments for red, green and blue

• Samsung’s DNIe technology currently holds over 110 patents and is available in plasma displays, LCDs and Projection TVs, and the most recently launched category of DLP TVs.

• For mid-end Samsung flat-screen TVs from 21 to 29 inch, Samsung has launched DNIe Jr, a new incorporation of core DNIe™ features such as the Signal and Color Optimizer, and Contrast and Detail enhancement
