SiS 755FX Socket 939 Ref Board with 2.2GHz CPU (1)
Bluetooth 25 May 2004

This June, AMD will launch a new processor which is based on the Socket 939 pin socket. This brings us to another battle of chipsets supporting this new CPU that incorporates dual channel DDR support for the mid range market.

Some of the features of this chispet resembles that of the SIS 755 chipset that we reviewed sometime back. In fact the most important change is the Support of AMD Athlon™ 64FX CPU with HyperTransport™ Technology with 8/16 links support and HyperTransport™ Technology up to 2000MT/s bandwidth.

The reference board is using the 964 south bridge which supports SATA RAID 0,1,10, JBOD. This might change in the near future when 965 becomes available to support PCI-E.

According to our knowledge, this chipset supports the FIX PCI/AGP which most enthusiasts are waiting for. If retail boards were to incorporate this feature and multiplier control + voltage tweaks, there you will have a overclocking board. We shall see if that becomes a reality.

On the next few pages, we show you pictures of the board+CPU followed by benchmarks.
