Scythe SCKBK-1000 Kamaboko CPU Cooler 3/3
Bluetooth 1 Feb 2004

Benchmark

We compared the performance of this cooler in comparison with the Gigabyte 3D cooler which is also rated at 1900RPM. A Pentium 4 3.0C processor is run at SPD with 1GB of Corsair DDR400 memory. The probe is place at the centre of the heatsinks.

Before are the temperature readings of the Gigabyte 3D Cooler-Ultra PCU31-SD before and after running SUPER PI 32Million test.

While registering the numbers above, we also used the PC Probe to register the values. Below are the screen shots of the Gigabyte 3D Cooler-Ultra PCU31-SD  followed by Scythe SCKBK-1000 Kamaboko CPU Cooler.

On the Gigabyte cooler, the temperature reading was 38 Deg C and it rises to a constant temperature of 52 Deg C.

On the SCKBK-1000 Kamaboko, the temperature rises from 35 Deg C to 51 Deg C.

From our observation, both coolers are equally quiet and cool. In fact, we can see that the Scythe SCKBK-1000 Kamaboko is 1 Deg C lower. Compared to the Gigabyte 3DCooler Ultra, the Scythe SCKBK-1000 Kamaboko has a bigger fan but it lacks the option of setting the fan speed to 2500RPM. Scythe SCKBK-1000 Kamaboko also offers compatibility with LGA775 socket. This feature is missing on the Gigabyte cooler.

Overall, it is a low price multi socket type CPU cooler for those who just needs a quiet stable machine.

Price : MSRP ~ Euro19.95/$22.95 USD
