Test 2

In test 2, we used the 1GB pair and benchmarked it at CAS 3 and CAS 5. To my surprise the results weren't very far off as I thought.

In our settings, the modules are set to run at CAS 5,5-5-15,2T that is the SPD rating of the module and benchmarked against the same modules set at CAS 3,3-3-12,2T.

In Sisoft Sandra 2007, we got 7525/7524 (CAS 5) vs 7967/7921 (CAS 3). This is not surprising as we all know that CAS 3 should give a better edge. In PCMark05, the scores aren't that impressive either with the CAS 3 leading a score of 5211 vs 5139 which is 1.4% difference.

Next, we look at 3DMark05, the scores are 5909 (CAS 5) vs 6015 (CAS 3). Again, that is again 1.7%. With 3Dmark06, it scored 3242 (CAS 5) vs 3245 (CAS 3) with a difference of only 3 points.

The score of DOOM3 is 74.2 vs 74.2. Chronicles of Riddick scored 24.98 (CAS 5) vs 24.96 (CAS 3). In F.E.A.R multiplayer demo, we got a average score of 46 vs 46.

Some questions were raised when I posted this story earlier last week. In the next page, we take a look at the detail break down scores of PCmark05 to see how the modules fared when it ran in CAS 5 vs CAS 3.
