If you have been following OCWorkbench and our reviews of ASrock products, there were lots of interest in the upgradable boards namely the K8 Upgrade series. The K8 Upgrade Series boards comes with a Yellow slot which looks like a regular PCIe slot. It is labelled FUTURE_CPU_PORT.

If you own one of those boards, you can upgrade to the AM2 platform by installing the AM2 CPU board with AM2 CPU + DDR2 memory. Thus you can save and prolong the usage of your board.

As most of the boards we have seen are either PCIe or AGP based, our readers requested we test it using the ever popular ASrock 939Dual-SATA2 based on the ULi m1695 chipset.

Well, we will do so accordingly and see if the performance matches those AM2 boards using NV chipsets.
