abit

abit is an old brand. With its acquisition earlier this year, they have regroup and have grown stronger than before. This computex, abit intends to launch their new branding and introduces two new boards. One for AM2 and the other is for the Core 2 Duo CPU.

abit today introduced the the AB9 series based on the new Intel 965 Express (Broadwater) chipset,. This state-of-the-art PC platform supports the most recent Intel Core 2 duo (Conroe) processors increasing performance by up to 40% while reducing power consumption by an impressive 40% at the same time. The advanced power switching technology of the Core 2 Duo CPU in combination with abit engineered technologies provide far better performance and also give the end-user an attractive total cost of ownership by reducing the electricity bill dramatically and increasing longevity of the hardware overall.

Based on the Intel P965/ICH8R chipset, the board supports the new Intel Core 2 Duo and P4EE and Pentium D processor witrh FSB 1066MHZ with HT/XD/EMT64T technolgy. It comes with 4 x 240 pin DIMM DDR2-800 supported to 8GB.

The board has 1 PCIex 16, 2 PCIe x1, and 2 PCI slots. 9 SATA II RAID 0/1/10/5 ports and 1 eSATA and 1 IDE port. There is Dual PCie GbE LAN, 2 1394a, 10 USB, 7.1 HD 882D S/PDIF audio ports. The board is equipped with Silent OTES for reduced noise. It supports the uGuru and Guru Clock.
