Introduction

Do you still remember the Rocket 3D cooler ? That is the cooler I am using right now in my Conroe system. The 3D Rocket was my preferred heatsink as it was quiet and has nice Blue LEDs. Most importantly, it fits all socket types (except AM2).

3D Rocket II is the 2nd generation of heatsink that is going to improve on that and improve on the previous generation 3D Rocket.

So, what are the major differences between the 3D Rocket 1 and 3DRocket II.

Firstly, the two uses different type of fan. 3D Rocket II uses axial flow fin, along with its bigger in size, it creates larger wind flow than 3D Rocket I’s central flow fin. Because of the fin, with the same fan speed, 3D Rocket II creates 3 times larger wind flow, and much lower noise.

Secondly, 3D Rocket I has one fan, 2 heat pipe, 4 directions, where 3D Rocket II has dual fan, 4 heat pipe, and 8 directions. The direction of the wind comes out from the top and bottom of 3D Rocket II, while Rocket I comes out from the bottom.

Lastly, the new 3D Rocket II now supports the AM2 series and has lower noise level compared to the Rocket I.
