Conclusion (Pricing)
The X1900GT is the lowest end edition of th X1900 series of cards. In our performance tests, we see that the card does perform well. Comparing it to the 7900GT (def clk), it seems to match in score for 3DMark06 but in games which might be tuned for the NV platform, the results were a bit slower than expected. The difference is negligible when higher resolutions were used with higher AA and AF settings as indicated in the benchmarks. The packaging of the Powercolor X1900GT is as usual, contains just the very basic which includes a Cyberlink DVD playback software and video cables are provided. No games are included in the package. This will probably reduce the overall cost and benefits the consumers. Overclocking wise, we use the tool within the catalyst 6.4 to overclock it to 620/720. As we are using a 1.4ns GDDR3, I suspect that the memory should be able to do better than 720MHz. The core seems to have reached its max at 620MHz. In 3Dmark05, a jump from 8450 to 8669 (+2.59%)is recorded. In our test, the card ran smoothly with no major issues encountered. One advantage of ATI X1k series of card is its support of the AVIVO Video Converter Engine which offloads your CPU and speeds up compression of videos into other formats. This is one of the plus points of a X1K.
