AMD DTX architecture

At TICC, AMD showcased their DTX reference design chassis. We spoke to Mr Daryl Sartain, AMD and he tells us about the initiative of DTX.

DTX is an open industry standard specification initiated by AMD to help enable the broad adoption of small form factor PCs. The DTX standard is designed to empower OEMs, ODMs, and component vendors to deliver innovative solutions to market that are small, quiet, and desktop-friendly, while leveraging commonalities within the ecosystem that benefit both customers and end users. With only a minimum set of parameters necessary for interoperability, DTX frees vendors to innovate.

With DTX it will spearhead more design innovations for PCs that are small, quiet and makes it more affordable. The incompatible standards of companies should no longer lock you down to a proprietary size and design which only fits in their own designed box. In our discussions, we understand that the boards of DTX spec will use the standard processors < 65W instead of the need to purchase mobile processors.
