3DMark05

In this test, we ran the card in default clk settings at of 675/1000 and o/c it to 720/1125MHz and 780/1125. In the tests, a X6800 is paired with with 2GB of Corsair DDR2-800.

The card with the heatink was also overclocked to 780/1125. The tool doesn't allow the memory to be adjusted. NVIDIA nTune also do not allow adjustments at all.

The 8600GTS scored 12512 (oc) and 11011 (default). These scores are quite a distance from the 8800GTX series. The nearest would be the ATi X1950XTX which scored 13009. 7900GT scored 9342 while a ATi X1950pro would get around 10545 points in this test. We will have to wait for ATi's DX10 to judge if the X2950XTX is better compared to the NV camp of 8800GTX.

3DMark06

In 3DMark06, the score are very apparent too. The default stock speed sets the record of 5320.

From the results, it can be seen that the 3Dmark06 score is almost halved of the 8800GTX. The 8800GTS-320MX is 8600 while the 8600GTS scores 5320. The 8800GTX series are all beyond the 10K mark in this test.

The ASUS X1950Pro scored 5145, EN7900GT at 5317 and ATI X1950XTX at 6767. The 8600GTS is just slightly faster then the DX9 7900GT card but is generally faster than the two DX9 ATi cards.
