Introduction

A lot of our readers are supporters of the AMD 690G chipset. Although this product has been around since as early as February. A lot of manufacturers released products that do not come with a HDMI interface.

This is a big turn off for end users who wants to use it to decode HDCP content. At this moment of time, there are two solutions, one is to buy a HDMI<->DVI converter which can be plugged to any DVI-D connector. Alternatively, you can purchase a cable with DVI connector and HDMI interface on the other end.

Although the video can be transmitted, the audio portion is left out as the mainboard does not deliver audio through the DVI port.

It seemed to be so till today on most boards.

Supox, a 2nd tier manufacturer worked around it. With its AT690G Ultra mainboard which uses a DVI port, you can now simply purchase a DVI-HDMI converter, plug it in together with the HDMI cable to interconnect it to the HDTV, you will get the video and audio through the DVI port.

How is that done ? Let's read on.
