Benchmarks - 3Dmark2005/3DMark2006

Before we check out the performance, let's take a look at what RS780 is recognized as. The IGP is of 55nm manufacturing process and has 40 unified shades. GPU CLK runs at 500Mhz while memory is at 400MHz by default. This board supports Sideport feature, allowing an addition 64MB to speed up the 3D performance.

Sideport is similar to onboard graphics memory buffer. With it enabled, it can increase the 3D performance by another 14%.

From our own benchmark results, the AMD 780G with GPU OC to 900MHz with and sideport enabled is 172% (3dMark05) and 364% (3dmark06) faster than AMD 690G using a X2 5000+ with 2 GB of DDR2-800.

When the GPU is o/c to 900MHz (from 500MHz default), the jump is from 2484 to 2741, the jump is around 10%. With Sideport enabled, it boosts it by another 11%. Thus, when the GPU core is o/c to 900MHz and Sideport enabled, it gave a 21% boost in performance over the default 500MHz setting with Sideport disabled.

In 3Dmark06, both the J&W RS780UVD-AM2+ and Jetway PA78GT3 performs similarly when no Sideport not o/c is done to the board. When enabled and o/c, the board reaches 1492. When it is overclocked without sideport, it scored 1335. That is 14% and 27% improvement in results.
