This FAQ’s full intent is to provide a tool for forum members to make a
better decision when purchasing Power Supply Units intended for the ECS K7S5A
motherboard. This FAQ is also applicable for those who are having similar
problems on other boards. 1.

PSU Rating Defined: 3.
What is the best brand PSU? 4.
My PSU is on the AMD Recommended/Approved list; do I still need a new PSU? 5.
Why is the +3.3V and +5.0V rail output so important? 6.
What about the +12V amp rating? Isn’t
this important too? 7.
My system worked perfectly for almost a week but now it’s showing
symptoms of a low powered PSU, could it be possible my PSU is underpowered? 8.
How can I tell my PSU is underpowered? 9.
But my bios or MBM readings on the +3.3V and +5.0V rails are within the
ATX spec of +/-5%, yet my system fails to boot when all peripherals are
connected. I can only boot after
pushing the reset button. Why? 10. My
PSU has an input power rating of 115V/60Hz; can I use it with a 220V/50Hz power? 11.
When I turn on my system, the LED’s will come on for a second and then it
totally shuts of with no indication of power.
I wait for a couple of minutes or less, push the power on switch and then
LED’s will come on for a second and then off again.

What will be the troubleshooting procedure for a tripping PSU? 13.
Why does my system works perfect with a single stick of ram but locks up
with two sticks? 14.
Why does my system works perfectly with 100/100 FSB but then will not
boot when placed at 133/133 FSB? 15.
