I just ordered an Antec 1200 case and some IC Diamond 7 TIM. hopefully that will get my temps under control.

Here's a pic of my computer w/ the side panel off :). For my temps in hwmonitor it shows :
TMPIN0 34c, TMPIN1 39c, and TMPIN2 124c... what is TMPIN 2? erroneous reading? CPU temps are fine. hottest core is @ 40c now.

Nice. btw, are you able to run your processor at 200MHz BCLK with DDR3 at DDR3-2000?

I havent had time to :/ I'm very stable at 180bklk (3.78ghz w/ turbo on) now @ 1.31cpu volts in BIOS. I still havent touch ioh, ich and and a few of the other voltage settings. I tried running ram at ddr 1700, and i ran into stability problems. but It could have been caused by something else I did at the same time as overclocking the RAM. I have to just do one thing at a time.

try increasing some of the voltage levels.

with the rig below, I can't pass IBT maximum or very high settings w/ 8 threads if I use more than 1 stick of ram... I tried lowering some of the settings and i still can't pass.... Not sure what else to do. I tried testing the ram individually and in separate slots and it's fine as long as I only use one. Also when using dual or tri-chanel, Games and windows don't crash.... I just can't pass IBT.
any ideas? I was hoping it was just a bad stick of ram...
I ran prime95 for 12 hours and also IBT @ high settings (2gb ram usage) and I get no errors.

Sounds like an overhead problem with the memory controller.
Please post the current timings and voltage of your ram.
In some cases, overvolting can actually make things worse.

These gold series do not overclock well. It is suggested they run as follows:
Quote:
Timings on the DDR3-1333 Gold Edition modules are higher at 9-9-9-26
|
Extra voltage may help in overclocking, but even at 1.9V they won't OC past 1460 without relaxing the timing so much, you loose the gain in performance.
At 1333 you can get 8-8-8 stable, but that is about it.
