Using two boards:
1. A780FullDisplayPort
2. P43R1600Twins-110dB
I guess these will be the last two Asrock boards I own after a long long row starting with a 939Dual, since they silently introduced a policy (obviously) not to support boards older than 6 months with new BIOS versions anymore... What a shame!

For example the two boards I'm using. Take the A780FullDisplayPort. Asrock updated the BIOS for the A780FullHD *twice* since september last year, but nothing new for the A780FDP (despite the fact they are almost identical besides the missing IEEE port and the improved 140W CPU support for the FullHD). The A780FullHD got an InstantBoot BIOS in the meantime, but customers for the A780FullDisplayPort who just bought their boards 2 month before obviously don't deserve this..
And they even "forgot" to mention the AM3 support for the A780FDP... as someone mentioned here the A780FullDisplayPort still isn't in their official list of boards to support AM3!
I guess this shows their attention to this board and leaves you with a feeling how well they will support in in future.
The same for my P43R1600Twins-110dB. Asrock is very busy to create new BIOS versions for the newer P43/P45 boards, but still hasn't managed to implement an "InstantBoot" BIOS for my P43R1600Twins. Most other boards got an updated BIOS in the meantime.... (and yes, I know, there is a Beta BIOS 1.40a which implements this feature but it's "beta" since months and has other problems and bugs I experienced).
I was always a very satisfied Asrock customer, but a product life cycle of less then 6 months is inacceptable and really stimulates my interest in other mainboard brands...
(Just a side note: I also own a GA-P965-DS3 Gigabyte board and they *still*
manage to release new BIOS versons for the latest CPU's for that "ancient" board!)

Let's hope this helps. Presently mainboards are thrown out of the engineering department with a frequency of about 10 per month... but really: is this always due to new technical improvements or is it simply marketing? And it makes life much harder to maintain support for the "old" mainboards of 3 months ago...
Asrock mainboards usually offer a very good cost vs benefit ratio, but they are obsoleting this by leaving them almost unsupported after a so short period of time!

From what I gather, they are steering towards the mid range and high end boards. From what I see with the X58 boards, it seems that they're not going to support the older boards and put more resources in developing new products.

They should stay with more budget to mid range stuff, if they go high end their going to compete with their own Asus brand.

They are two seperate companies. If not ASR wouldn't have a x58 board.
