Crucial Ballistix 16gb DDR3 Low-Profile RAM not working on ASROCK Extreme4 Z68
Hey all, sorry for the long title, but it explains the whole situation easily.
I have the LGA 1155 socket ASROCK Extreme4 Z68 motherboard, and I'd like to add some low-profile RAM to it. I understand low-profile RAM also means low-voltage. This RAM runs at 1.35v. When I plugged it in, I got nothing, not even a POST.
I didn't have much time to tinker with it, just tried it a few times and had to leave for work. Is this RAM not support at all on this motherboard? Wouldn't there be a way to get to the BIOS and increase voltage for it to work if that's the problem?
Thanks all!
Specs: - ASROCK Extreme4 Z68
- i7 2600k @ 4.2ghz w/ Cooler Master Hyper N 520
- GTX 560ti Twin Frozr
- 4 x 4gb G.Skill Ripjaw DDR3 1600
- Antec 900 case
- Win7 professional 64bit

I assume you are trying the low voltage ram by itself, without any of the GSkill ram installed. You may not be able to run the two types of ram mixed together.
Sorry I'm not familiar with the BIOS layout on your board but go into the BIOS (with the GSkill only installed if required) and set the memory profile to XMP or enable it, shut down and remove the GSkill, install the low volt ram and restart. If XMP is already enabled, then disable it and manually set the DRAM voltage to 1.35v.
See if that helps. Post back with the results.

I suspect the BIOS isn't able to detect the low profile ram voltage levels correctly. As Snoppy suggested, use another piece of RAM, boot it up, change the voltage levels manually to 1.35v. Save and Exit. Power down. Change to low profile RAM, power Up.
If it fails, check golden connectors and remount them onto Dimm slots 1 and 3 (or are you on 2 and 4) ? Check the manual for 2 sticks of ram, some boards require it must be on 1 + 3 and not 2 + 4 .

I guess the OP is not coming back to report the results.
