ABIT KG7 RAID (1)
Ken 14 Aug 2001

Introduction

At last, the long awaited KG7-RAID arrives. To date, there are already many DDR boards out there that features the AMD 761 chipset, but why ABIT choose to release it so late ? Will it be as successful as the former ABIT KT7A RAID ? We will investigate that later.

The ABIT KG7 comes in three flavours, the first being the KG7-Lite which features no RAID + 2 DDR slots, KG7 is the second model that has 4 DDR Slots and no RAID support. Finally ABIT KG7-RAID is the one that has all the features and has RAID 0/1/0+1 and 4 DDR Slots support.

To date, ABIT KG7/RAID seems to be the only AMD 761 board that supports up to 4GB PC1600/PC2100 DDR (4 registered DIMMs must be used) or max up to 2GB using 2 DIMM of unbuffered DDR SDRAM. Well, if you were to use BIOS 4j, you might be able to use 4 pcs of unbuffered DDR (subjected to quality of DDR module and according to ABIT, it is not guaranteed).
