AOPEN AK73Pro Part 1 Introduction AOPEN has been quiet for quite some time. Well, they are probably spending more time on R&D to bring out the best in their products. Although AOPEN is not the first company to launch a product based on new chipsets, AOPEN has brought many great products in the past like that AOPEN AX6BC Pro Gold, Black Beauty, Pink Beauty etc. In our labs today, we have the opportunity to test run one of their Socket A mainboard AX73 Pro. AX73 Pro is a Socket A VIA KT133 based mainboard which features what most people love about, overclocking. In this edition, AOPEN has included multiplier tweaking, voltage tweaking for Vcore and Vi/o. Most importantly, this board supports ATA-100 interface using the newer VIA 686B South Bridge. To date, we have tested many Socket A boards, in terms of overclockability, this board is really a winner, not only that, it's performance is also on par with the best of the breed mainboards. Well, the above was just a short summary of what you would be expecting to see in the rest of this report. Before that, let's take a look at the package.
The package looks identical to the Black Beauty VII (AX34ProII) we reviewed 2 months ago. The package contains some of the best stuffs, which includes Norton Antivirus 2000, a software that costs an amount if you were to purchase it alone. A short and easy to understand installation poster is also included. The rest are the same; cables, CDROM, Manual. I do not know why but I just like the plastic shielding the mainboard. Everything just seems to be so professional!
