EPoX 8KHA+ (1)
Overclocker 27 Nov 2001
Right after the success of 8KHA, EPoX launched
8KHA+. The 8KHA+ is not only an enhanced edition of the 8KHA, but it is based on
a newer chipset, VIA KT266A. If you remember, VIA "A" is always
better. The same applies to the EPoX 8KHA+, the performance is generally much
better and is a screamer. In fact the testing shows that the performance in real
world gaming is on par with the ABIT
KR7A we reviewed earlier.
In our tests, we used the new Athlon XP1500+
and ran it under the tightest RAM timings we could. It went through all the rigorous
tests at default speed. In fact, we stress the system further by pushing it to
150Mhz. The system is relatively stable at 146Mhz under the tightest timings. If
were were to relax it to CAS 2.5, 2T, we are able to run it at around 155Mhz FSB.

Packaged in a slim plastic casing, it has the
classy finished. The package contains the usual user's
manual, FDD and HDD cables and a CDROM. The BIOS that
comes with the board was the oldest edition and we had some minor issues which
were resolved when we used the beta 20 Nov 2001.
Below are the specifications of the
board. The subsequent pages will be the gallery followed by benchmark results
including SuperPI, Q3, DroneZ etc.
