Conclusion

Albatron is a new comer in this competitive technological playground, KX400+ pro is not a board to be ignored. Although KX400+ Pro did not package it with lots of software, it claims superior performance and overclockability. With BIOS mirror, voice diagnostics and CPU OVER TEMP PROTECTION features, this board is definitely recommended for users who needs a piece of mind using the board.

Overall, we did not face any problems in or testing. We can easily install windows. If you are into overclocking, this board does features some good stuff but you would need to invest in a good piece of RAM module. One thing that I noticed is that Albatron uses a doublesided thermal tape for the heatsink of the KT333 North Bridge. I suggest that those who really wishes to overclock to change that to thermal paste. 

Using AMD AXP1500+ with DDR333 module from Corsair, we were able to overclock the FSB to 160Mhz (RAM is running at DDR400 due to 2.5x ratio). We ran it at SPD CAS 2.5 though. The Sisoft Sandra benchmarks shot up to 1007 for FPU and 948 for ALU.

KX400+ Pro is a piece of gem. In Taiwan, its retail price is around NT3000 (US90). At this sort of low price who says that you can have the best of both worlds - high performance at a low price. With that in mind, we highly recommend this product. Below we list the Pro/Cons :

在競爭激烈的主機板業中青雲科技算是後起之秀。KX 400+ Pro 雖然沒有附加很多的軟體, 但是樸實的外表卻有著優良的效能, 再加上它的超頻能力, 是值得使用者考慮的產品。這張板子看似平凡但是其實也有許多讓人看的出青雲科技有用心的地方。 有雙BIOS ( BIOS Mirror )、多語言語音偵錯功能、防 CPU 燒毀功能 ( Over Temp Protection ) 都是值得嘉獎的！

整體上而言, 在安裝這張主機板的時候沒有遇到什麼困難, CPU 和記憶體都能自動偵測, 我能輕鬆的安裝 windows, 但是如果你 CPU 和記憶體體質夠好的話, 也許你該好好的調整一下RAM 的設定, 也可以先嘗試一下DDR-400 的效能。順便一提, 在北橋 KT333 晶片組青雲科技也有加上散熱片和風扇, 但是當我那下散熱片的時候, 可以看到散熱貼片。比起其他只用雙面膠固定的主機板要來的好多了。但是我建議使用者最好取下散熱貼片使用散熱膏。

在超頻方面, 我能用AMD Athlon XP 1500+ 和我這條普通的 DDR 333 RAM 上到 160 Mhz 的外頻 (此時DDR時脈已經是 DDR 400啦), 這點是最讓我驚訝的! 但是因為這條記憶體體質不佳, 因此我得用CAS 2.5 (DRAM Timing 為By SPD)才能達到這個境界, 在 10X 的內頻和 160 Mhz 外頻下, Sisoft Sandra 的效能可以一舉提昇到 FPU -- 1007 MB/s, ALU -- 948 MB/s 。

KX400+ Pro 真的是一張好板子。在台灣的市面上已經可以用 NT$ 3000 (約 US$ 90左右) 買到這個產品了。是一張穩定又便宜的板子, 誰說魚與熊掌真的不能兼得呢? 就價格、穩定性和超頻能力而言我要給青雲科技的 KX400+ Pro 一個 "推薦獎" 以茲鼓勵!!
