BIOS (I)

Let's take a look into the BIOS to see what we can play with, shall we?

Upon entering the BIOS, we find a very common Award setup. This version is used on many of today's best boards. When starting a board for the first time, I like to go DIRECTLY to the hardware monitoring page (PC Health Status) to ensure the voltages, temps and fan speeds are within tolerance. I'd hate to burn up a new CPU with improper voltage before I even load and operating system...SO...

What's that?? A CPU temp of 14C?? I'm sure this is just a glitch that a BIOS update will solve. Hopefully, one will be released soon. This is not much to worry about as long as the system is stable the temps HAVE to be within spec. Some board manufacturers have had numerous updates to get temp readings closer to actual core (or socket) temps. Abit and Gigabyte come to mind. All the voltages look very good, some even a little high. This should make for some stable performance at stock voltage...You might notice a system fan speed being reported. This is from the Enermax power supply fan plugged in down at the front. The other header there is for the (optional) chipset fan.
