Gigabyte 3D Cooler-Pro
PCU21-VG (3)
Performance Comparison (Temperature & Noise level) We compared the Gigabyte 3D Cooler-Pro PCU21-VG with 2 of the top notch K7 coolers, Thermaltake Volcano 11+ and Coolermaster Aero 7. Before we take a look at the average temperatures recorded, lets check out the RPM of the fans. Among the 3 fans, the Thermaltake Volcano 11+ runs the fastest speed of 4800RPM and this makes it the noisiest heatsink/fan among the three. Surpringly, the Gigabyte 3DCooler though running at a speed of 4000RPM (max), the noise level is very low. In fact, it is as low as the low speed Coolermaster Aero 7.
When we test the three heatsinks using 3DMark2001SE and SuperPI 32M, we find that the average readings of the various heatsinks quite similar to one another. In fact, using 3Dmark2001SE, we didn't see much difference. When we ran the Super PI 32M tests, we see that the temperature readings of 49 ~ 52 range. Considering the low
speed of the Gigabyte 3Dcooloer, the performance is pretty good because of its
low noise and it also helps to cool surrounding chipsets.
Conclusion Gigabyte has made a winner - PCU21-VG. This heatsink though not the coolest among the 3, it has very good performance not only in cooling down but low noise. In fact, the design of this heatsink allows better cooling of the central of Heatsink which is where the core is. This fan design allows it to cool down the components right beside the CPU. This is definitely something that is not seen before. Overall, a good performer and we highly recommend this cooler for those who use multiple platforms like myself since the same heatsink can be used for various platforms. So far there is no pricing information available (will update once available).
