Introduction

We have seen how a X38 board with DDR2 performed. Today, we take a look at the ASUS P5E3 mainboard. ASUS P5E3 Deluxe WiFI/AP edition is a board based on the latest Intel X38 / ICH9R chipsets with DDR3 support.

The P5E3 Deluxe WIFI-AP edition is built on a 8 phase pwm. It supports the new generation intel lga775 processors. It also include support for future 45nm mutli core cpu with 1600FSB. With 8GB max supportof DDR3 in dual memory architecture, it is sure to enhance the performance of the system with Dual PCIe x16 in CrossFire mode.

The board itself comes with 6 SATAII porst for SATA RAID 0,1,5,10 and Jmicron supports an additional 2 eSATA2 and 1 IDE port. On board there are two GBE and WIFI/AP support allows you to turn your PC into an access point.

Other features include 8 ch audio using ADI AD1988B jack sensing, 1394 using agere for 2 1394a ports, 10 USB ports.

This board is quite unique as it supports a new feature ASUS Express Gate. This Express Gate is a BIOS enhancement which allows you to go online at boot up. You no longer need to enter WINDOWS to surf net or run SKYPE to chat with your friends. It is all at BIOS level indepedent of your OS.

Other features included on board are EPU (Energy Porcessing Unit), AI NAP, Fanless heatpipe and stackcool2, qfan2 solution. For DIY users, it comes with ASUS EZ DIY which includes Q connector, OC profile (BIOS), CrashFree BIOS 3, EZ Flash 2, AI Slot detector, Q-Shield.

The BIOS comes with very AI Tweaker which allow users to change voltage levels, adjust ram timings etc. The package also comes with a remote control.
