How to unlock AMD Tbred 2400+
Overclocker 31 Oct 2002

We read about Gao's method of unlocking the Tbred processor and decided to give it a try. Before we carry on, there is something we ought to know. There are no more laser holes on the L1 bridge and connecting the L1 bridge doesn't "unlock" it since the current batches of Tbreds so far come unlocked in multipliers. To enable the lower multipliers, connect the 5th bridge on L3 to enable the lower multipliers.

As we all know, meddling with the bridges and warranty stickers on the bridges voids warranty, Gao from Japan discovered a method sometime ago which allows you to modify your Tbred by shorting two pins beneath the processor to enable the lower multipliers of the processor. This trick is easier and it can be easily done since conductive ink might not be easily available in your country.

The two photos below shows the pins involved :

First of all, orientate the CPU just like the photo below. Orientate your CPU with the arrow on the CPU pointing in the South-West direction.

Next, take out your old telephone wire or those Red/black twisted wire. Use your pliers and extract one string of the wire. Make sure it's long enough so that you can tie a knot later. So which are the pins to connect. The easiest way to identify the "Small Hut" or "spade" which you can see below. You might want to use a magnifying glass to help you locate it. Make sure you check they are the correct pins. Tie a small knot first and the tie then loop it around the two pins involved. Next, loop the strand around in the pattern of "8" so that it will not drop off.

Simple ? Now place the processor into the Socket and boot up, if everything is working properly, you should now be able to access all the lower level multipliers like 6.5x ~ 12.5x. Well good luck and happy burning and voiding warranty :)

If you decide to run it at its stock speed, just remove the knot.
