ASUS A7V8X KT400 Review (2)
Overclocker 21 Aug 2002

Benchmarking

We conduct the usual tests on the setup with the following configuration :

Test System:

  • AMD AthlonXP 1500+ and Thermoengine heatsink/fan
  • Maxtor 40G 7200RPM ATA133 HD
  • AOPEN 40X CDROM
  • MSI Geforce3 Ti200 Graphics card
  • TwinMos DDR400 256MB DDR
  • Channelwell 375W AMD Approved PSU

The BIOS we used is dated 16 Aug 2002. ver 1003. We ran the tests based on the best timings as indicated in the screen captures in the gallery. The tests are all done based on CAS 2, Turbo timings and Async DDR333 setting and Async DDR400. VIA 4-in-1 version 4.40.

ZD Winbench99  scores

We compared the benchmark results of the disk winmarks and noticed that the A7V8x disk performance is on par with the new boards that incorporate the 8235. Something interesting is that why those older KT333 boards using 8233A south bridge performs better ??

CC Winstone 2000

Content creation 2000 measures the benchmark results of system performance when running Content creation software like Adobe Photoshop etc. In the comparison, we can see that it all the boards performance varies quite a lot but within 3% of difference. Results are average among the fastest boards. Looks like DDR400 doesn't seem to be performing up to expectation.
