Memory Benchmarks

SiSoft Sandra 2002

The infamous SiSoft Sandra 2002 is used to test out the memory benchmarks. All the systems are tweak to it's maximum possible settings of CAS 2, 2-2-5. In the BIOS, 5 can be set to 4 but the system won't boot if it were to be set to 4.

The chart below compares the memory benchmark scores when we run the board at various CPU/Memory Freq Ratio at DDR266, DDR333 and DDR400. For DDR266 and DDR333, RAM is set to CAS 2, 2-2-5. At DDR400, it is set to CAS 2, 3-3-6.

In our tests, although we are able to obtain Memory benchmark scores of the P4S8X running either the Winbond DDR333 or Corsair DDR400 at DDR400, CAS 2.5,3-3-6 or SPD, the system is very unstable. This could be due to the aggressive timings set within.

Below are the results breakdown of the P4S8X running the official DDR333 standard versus the rest of the mainboards from various chipset manufacturers. The results aren't very far from the two other SiS 648 - Shuttle AS45GTR and SIS 648 Reference board.
