Here’s how to enable Input / Output Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller for Windows 2000 and Windows XP Pro.

Heres what Microsoft says about IO APIC

1. You must have a BIOS that has the option of IO APIC, like the excellent CheepoBIOS, and have it enabled.

2. Install Win 2000 or XP Pro from fresh or re-install.

3. Start the install using either the bootdisks or booting from the CD.

4. When it asks you to press f6 to install RAID of SCSI drivers, hit f5 many times and if you need to, f6 also.

5. Eventually, it will show you a menu to choose the type of PC you want to install for.

6. Choose "APCI Uniprocessor "

7. Now finish installing windows and in system information under IRQ, you should now see you have 24 IRQs
