Gigabyte 8INXP E7205 Granite Bay Dual Channel DDR Mainboard Review (3)
Overclocker 22 Nov 2002

Benchmarking

Before we benchmark, we document the FSB the board is running at. Below is a chart that shows the FSB (default by BIOS) for the 9 boards we use in this review :

With Dual channel DDR, we can see a great jump in memory benchmark results. A high score of 3357/3356 is obtained using 2 x 256MB DDR module. We can see from the chart that there is a significant jump from a single 512M DDR module versus a Dual channel 2 x DDR 266 (256M).

This result is comparable to the 850E+RIMM4200 P4T533. Surprisingly, the ASUS P4G8X only scored 3264/3265 which is short of a 100 points. As we have mentioned before, could there be some hidden Async DDR333 setting just like in the 845E which improved the performance. We have yet to find out. According to our contacts at Gigabyte, they said that they have not found such a hidden option.
