Iomega 80G HDD

Seagate 7200RPM HD

It's a pity that we do not have a 80G equivalent HD to do a head to head comparison. We used one of our fastest ATA HD which is a Seagate Barracuda ATA IV in our comparison test.

From the results, we can see that the 7200RPM Iomega 80G does perform pretty well in the Business Disk WinMark99 score which measures the Business related applications disk access. While it lose out slightly to the Seagate IDE HD in categories like AVS/Express 3.4,Photoshop 4, Premiere 4.2, Sound Forge and Visual C++ 5.0, it has proven itself to be a worthy competitor to IDE HD.

Conclusion

The performance of the Iomega 80G HD is pretty good considering that it is an external unit. The package also comes with the necessary softwares to make it a good data backup device too. This device is definitely a good add on to your notebook or even your PDAs (while rarely you would need such high capacity drive).

The setup is straightforward and you don't have to worry too much as it's power adaptor is capable to work between 110v ~ 220v. You might need to buy universal converters for the power plug though.
