Maxtor HD RMA Information

Many users in this region uses the Maxtor Hard Disks. As we all know, ATA133 is probably what make Maxtor's ATA133 7200RPM D740X-6L series of Hard Disks very popular among readers of our site.

While most users who buy their Hard Disks from retail stores. What happens if the HD malfunctions and you need to send it back for repair ? Well, there are various ways which you can do.

If you can wait, you can always send it to the retailer and let them settle it for you. Otherwise, you can do it yourself if you are willing to spend a bit of money.

In fact, the DIY method is quite simple. There are five steps

Step 1: Determine Drive Labeling for Checking Warranty Status 
Step 2: Check Warranty Status 
Step 3: Instruction for Return Material Authorization (RMA) 
Step 4: RMA Request Form 
Step 5: Shipping & Packaging Instructions with Mailing Addresses
Step 6: RMA Status 

First of all you would need to go to this website http://www.maxtor.com/en/support/service/warranty_ata.htm

Step 1 involves enter the Serial Number and Drive label information in a form to check your warranty status. Once the warranty status are valid. You can request for a RMA Request form to be filled in. Step 5 involves the necessary packaging needed before sending the Hard Disk back to factory. If you are from Singapore, you would need to send your package to Malaysia.

Method of Shipment

Please ship your return drive to Maxtor via a traceable carrier that can provide you with a proof of delivery if necessary (e.g., Federal Express, Airborne, DHL, UPS, TNT and U.S. Mail Priority). Maxtor-approved packaging may be purchased from a Maxtor Customer Support representative at a minimal cost.

About Your Replacement Drive

Your hard drive will be replaced with a factory re-certified hard drive, which has passed the same quality standards as our new build drives. All drives will be replaced with the same model where possible. If not possible, the drive will be replaced with a comparable model.

NOTE: Any drive that fails within the first 30 days will be replaced with a new build drive. Proof of Purchase may be required

Turnaround Time

Unless otherwise specified, Maxtor aims to ship your replacement drive within 2 business days from the in house receipt of your defective drive(s) or from the creation date of your advanced RMA.

Warranty

The warranty period for your replacement drive is the remainder of the original drives warranty or 90 days, whichever is longer.
