Unveiling SiS Xabre

The editor was able to get hold of a engineering sample of the Xabre 400 graphics card. According to Triplex, it will improve on it's PCB and better stability for the production cards. It will be named as Triplex Kirin Xaber400.

4 pcs of 4 x 16 DDR RAM, 64MB.

The ram used is Hynix  4X 16 DDR RAM-3.3ns ram.

Let's benchmark it and see how it performs comparing it to a GF4 MX440 64MB DDR card

Test platform :

  • Gigabyte SIS645,
  • P4 1.8G CPU,
  • WIN XP OS,
  • 256MB DDR266,
  • 3D Mark2001 SE

It can be clearly seen that the SiS Xabre 400 is faster than the GF4 MX 440 by 14% when they are tested under the same hardware platform. Simialr to MX440, Xabre 400 has DVI and TVOut. With hardware decoding, the display is much better than using software. The editor tested Quake3 on it and found that there isn't any jerkiness. The image quality is very good. Looks like SiS33x will make an impact in the PC industry just like the SiS6326.
