5 PCI slots and 1 AGP slot. A proprietary
slot for the Chaintech Multimedia Card. VIA Envy 7 channel audio chip and
Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet is supported on board.
The RadEX heatpipe and the back panel
connectors. There is only one LAN port available.
The built-in nForce3 150 chipset supports 3 ATA-66/100/133
IDE ports. The on board Sil3114 SATA RAID chip supports 4 Serial ATA with
RAID 0/1/5/10 configurations. The 1394a ports are controlled by the VIA
VT6306 chipset.
The DDR SDRAM memory system
consists of 3 DIMMs, The first bank supports up to 1GB of memory, and the
second and third ones together support up to 1GB of memory.
Chaintech suggest that user install DRAM in either DIMM 1 + DIMM 2 or DIMM
1 + DIMM 3 slots. Installation in DIMM 2 + DIMM 3 slots is not recommended
since it may result in an unstable sytsem.
The RadEX heatpipe used
to cool the 8 MOSFETs underneath as shown on the picture on the right.
A 4 phase design
The RADEX heatpipe - Heat transfer into the pipe.
Liquid turns to vapor with heat and flows
from the hot side (left) to the cold side (right).
Heat release from the part of the upper part to the environment;vapor
condenses to liquid phase.
Liquid returns by caterpillary pumping to the lower part of pipe.
RADEX from another angle. You can see a fan on the other
end of the heatpipe which is quite loud.
