Word 2003

This is another application that I commonly use. In Winword 2003, the integration between WinWord and Win Server 2003 with Windows SharePoint Services. On page 1, we mentioned about IRM - Information Rights Management. Basically what it does is that you can now set a date or time which a document will be viewable. This is something like those self destructible document. Well that is for confidentiality. You can also read IRM protected documents and with permission you can modify them.

One of the important changes to WinWord 2003 is that it is now tightly integrated with Messenger Thus you can now chat using IM within Word. Another difference is that you can now use it on Tablet PC and with the pen input, you can now take notes, or to send to others.

Word now allows you to save documents in XML format so that you can separate the content of a document from the confines of its binary (.doc) format. The content becomes available for automated data-mining and repurposing processes. The content can easily be searched and even modified by processes other than Word, such as server-based data processing.

Powerpoint 2003

Another program that I commonly use is the powerpoint 2003. At last the PowerPoint viewer is improved and you can now package the slides for CD using the Package for CD to distribute the slides. You can also  Make CDs of your presentations for viewing on computers running a Microsoft Windows operating system. Microsoft Windows XP or later is required to burn CDs directly from PowerPoint, but if you use Windows 2000, you can package one or more presentations to a folder and then use third-party CD burning software to copy your presentations to a CD.

Package for CD allows you to package your presentations and all of the supporting files, including linked files, and automatically run your presentations from the CD. The updated Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer is included on the CD when you package your presentations. Therefore, no installation of the Viewer is required on a computer that doesn't have PowerPoint installed. Package for CD also gives you the option of packaging your presentations to a folder instead of a CD for archiving or posting to a network share.

PowerPoint 2003 support additional media formats, including ASX, WMX, M3U, WVX, WAX, and WMA. If a required media codec isn't present, PowerPoint 2003 will attempt to download it by using Windows Media Player technology.

Finally,  you can now write directly into the powerpoint slides on tablet pc. This makes creating slides so much simpler than before.
