Conclusion

The Samsung E700 is a fun phone for those who loves technology. With the built in camera, it allows one to take interesting photos and add nice addons to it before sending it via MMS. As you can see from the photos taken, the VGA (640x480) mode is still reasonably clear but still not comparable to the real digital cameras. Comparing that with lower resolution pictures, the lower resolution 15 shots photo are pretty good quality.

While we were playing with the E700, we noticed that the 40 channels polyphonic ringtone is softer than the current V200 and S300 phones. This can be a problem if you are in a noisy environment. If you are into MMF files, you can use PSMplayer to compensate the volume level by making the MMF file louder.

In terms of built, the E700 is sturdy and the looks is better than the S300 or V200. One thing that I noticed is that the OLED / LCD is clear and colours very vibrant under normal lighting conditions. The only drawback is that it will appear dim under strong sunlight especially in tropical countries making it difficult to read the contents on the screen.

In terms of features, this phone is a Dual Band phone which restricts it to only European and Asian customers. The E700 supports JAVA and MMS. There is also IRDA for transferring of files using software available on the samsungmobile.com.sg website. Something missing is the data cable which should have been bundled within the package.
