XGI Volari V8 versus Deltachrome S8 (3)
Jon 7 Oct 2004

Aquamark 3 :

Aquamark3 uses DirectX9 features such as Pixel Shader 2.0 and a real world game engine to allow users to test their system under heavy graphic load. The benchmark runs at 1024x768x32 with no Anti-Aliasing and 4x anisotropic filtering. Detail levels are naturally set to the maximum.

Performance in Aquamark3 was good on both the Volari and the Deltachrome, with scores over 10.000 points higher than the Radeon 9550 and the GeforceFX 5700 LE.

Quake 3 :

Quake III is a classic game benchmark. Though the game is a bit dated, it still remains popular among gamers and this game still is one of the best ways of testing video and PC systems for any instabilities and best performance.

In Quake 3, the Volari V8 still maintains its lead with a score of 254,7 fps. On the other hand, the Deltachrome S8 falls behind all the cards tested with a score of 181,8 fps. As for the FX 5700 LE, it seems to be more powerful in this test than the 9550.

Now let's see how things turn out in Call of Duty, a more recent OpenGL title.

Call of Duty :

We can see the same pattern emerging. The Volari V8 scores 115,9 fps in this test, whereas the Deltachrome S8 falls in the last position again with a score of 85,1 fps. The Radeon 9550 and the GeforceFX 5700 LE have surprisingly close results here, with the 9550 having a small lead over the 5700 LE.
