Benchmarks PCmark2005 (HDD test) / HD Tach

We tested the HDD test within PCMark2005 using the one Hitachi Deskstar 80GB SATA II HDD using the on board Jmicron SATA II controller versus a normal Intel 945P running DDR2-667 SPD. In order to activate the Jmicron controller, the secondary PCIe video slot needs to be set back to PCIe x1.

From the chart below, we can see that Jmicron SATA II is surprisingly good in terms of the tests done on it. Other than the Virus Scan test, the Jmicron SATA II seems to have surpassed performance of the native Intel 945 board SATA II implementation.

HD-Tach

The first diagram we see is the HD Tach 3 results of using the Hitachi SATA II HDD connected to the JMicron SATA II PCie based controller on board. It has an average read of 48.7MB/s and a CPU utilisation of 4% +/- 2%. The Jmicron also has a better burst rate compared to i945P's 212MB/s. CPU Utilisation on the 945P seems to be slightly lower. Below are the screen shows for both systems.
