ASrock readers of OCW would be familiar with Combo-Z, K8Upgrade1689 are based on the ULi M1689 K8 chipset. Although these designs offers upgradeability, it has sacrifice slight performance when we compared it to the ULi M1689 reference board. This could be due to longer traces needed in the design.

ASrock 939A8X-M is ASrock's latest addition to its family of ULi K8 board. 939A8X-M is a mATX mainboard for the Socket 939 CPU. Some of you will ask, why would I use a Socket 939 board on a mATX board? Well, there are users who needs small, compact, stable and good performance board for multimedia needs as in a multimedia PC for the family or graphics rendering.

K8A8X-M supports the Socket 939 AMD Athlon 64 processor. It is based on the ULi M1689 single chipset for 64 bits computing. It works at a max of 1GHz HTT and supports up to 4GB of DDR400 in Dual Channel. The board also comes with Hybrid Booster. On this board, you can adjust the FSB, multiplier, ram timings, vdimm, vcore etc. It has 2 SATA ports 1.5GB/s which can function in a RAID 0/1/JBOD array. AGP 8X is supported. There is 8 ch audio and a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port. At the back of the board are 4 USB 2.0 ports and 4 additional can be added through USB brackets.
