Using the pair of modules, we ran it at default SPD which is CAS 3, 8-3-3 (tRAS=8, our convention of putting tRAS first). As the CPU is a 800FSB part, we lowered the multiplier and increase the FSB to 266MHz. We also run the DDR2 in sync with the CPU FSB. Thus we are actually running at DDR533. CPU speed = 3.72GHz (14 x 266).

In comparison, we ran the same processor at the same speed of 3.72G (14 x 266). This time round, we set the CPU:RAM ratio to 3:4, running the CPU and RAM in async mode. With this ratio, the memory will run at 354MHz or at DDR 708. We managed to achieved a speed of DDR 708 using CAS 4, 8-3-3 which is a big jump from DDR2-533 to DDR2-708. If you are more familiar with big numbers, it would mean the ram actually achieved similar rating to a pair of XMS2-5664!

Below are two benchmarks comparing the ram module running in SYNC CAS 3, 8-3-3 (DDR2-533) at 1.8v versus running in ASYNC (3:4) at CAS 4, 8-3-3 at 2.0v (DDR2-708).
