EPoX EP-8NPA SLi
SLi technology has always been for the gamers who needed super high powered
machines. You would have noticed that most or all of the existing SLI boards are
all based on the higher speed processors based on Socket 939 processor. This
leaves the earlier adoptors of Socket 754 procesor left with no way to try out
SLi technology since no manufacturers have that kind of solution.
EPoX, being one of the innovative overclocking friendly board makers come to the
rescue with thie EPoX 8NPA SLi board. As far as I know, EPoX 8NPA SLI is the
first board in the market that supports the Socket 754 processor and provides
two PCIe x 8 slots to operate in SLi mode.
Based on the NF4 SLi chipset, the board supports
Socket-754 based AMD Athlon-64/Sempron up to 3700+ with 1.6GTs HyperTransport
processor. Two 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMM sockets supports up to single-sided or
double-sided 2.5v DDR-333/400 DIMMs with a total memory of 2GB.
Althogh it is a
Socket 754, it does provide what its 939 brother - 9NPA+SLi provides, that 10
USB connectors compliant with USB2.0 from embedded USB controller (4 connectors
at rear panel). It also has two IDE ports (up to 4 IDE devices) with
UDMA-33, ATA-66/100/133 support from embedded IDE controller. There is also
S-ATA II RAID, four S-ATA II ports from nForce4 SLi with nV RAID and up to 3Gbps
bandwidth , nV Disk Alert. GbE LAN is also equipped with nV Firewall 2.0 ,
Active Armor.
There are
also abundant overclocking
features built onboard in the PowerBIOS. They include ram timing adjustments,
voltage adjustments (vdimm up to 3.1v, Vcore). FSB up to 400MHz, Maxmemclk etc
(see gallery for more).
Although the mainboard is featured packed, EPoX has removed some of the usual
goodies from the package. In any case, the provided pack includes the USB
bracket, balck plate, SLI bridge, IDE, SATA cables,
