Intel Centrino Duo
 Notebook
users would be familiar with Centrino notebooks while desktop users of Intel
processors would know the Dual Core processor e.g. 820D. Notebook users have
always been asking for the power and speed of desktop machines in portable
notebooks. With the introduction of the Intel Centrino Duo platform, this dream
is fulfilled.
So what is Centrino Duo ?
Basically it consists of 3 components. They are the Intel Core Duo processor,
the Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset and the Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG Network
interface.
The brain of the notebook is
the Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2300 (1.66GHz, 667MHz FSB, 2MB L2
cache). Imagine having the power of Dual in a notebook, you can now do two
things at one time. One such good function is for compressing video and doing
photo editing at the same time.
The chipset in use also helps
in delivering speedy multimedia applications. At the centre of the board, you
will find the Intel 945PM express chipset.
The Mobile Intel® 945GM Express
chipset's low power design enables up to 28% less average power consumption
compared to previous generations. Featuring the Intel® Graphics Media
Accelerator 950, the Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset delivers up to 2x
improvement in graphics performance over the previous generation chipset. The
Mobile Intel® 945GM Express chipset enables up to 25% higher data transfer rate
compared to the previous generation bus speed. Additionally, it features PCI
Express* x16 graphics ports and PCI Express x1 I/O ports, next generation Serial
ATA, and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity.
Last but not least, the Intel®
PRO/Wireless Network Connection is the integrated Wireless LAN (WLAN) solution
for Intel® Centrino® mobile technology. The Intel PRO/Wireless Network
Connection works in concert with the other Intel Centrino mobile technology
components to provide freedom and flexibility to work and play on the go without
hunting for a phone jack, network cable, or plugging in a special card. Get
connected through wireless LAN networks in your home, in the office, and in
wireless LAN hotspots in airports, hotels and coffee shops.+
