Usage

After setting up the device and installing the software that comes with the CDROM. It is time to launch SKYPE.

Incoming calls? Basically everything remains the same as per usual. If the call is made via PSTN to you, the normal ring tone will be heard. If it is a SKYPE originated call to your userid, the ring tone sounds a bit different. Just pick up the call as per normal just like you normally do to voice calls.

Making outgoing calls is as simple as remembering the short cut key. A look at the SKYPE interface shows a lightning sign with a number assign to each contact person. That is the short cut key that you will use to call your contacts via the telephone keypad. To call the person, just pick up the telephone handset and press *26# will initiate the call to the first person in this contact list.

One thing interesting about this product is its capability to record down the voice conversations. While talking on the phone, be it SKYPE call or a normal Voice call, both can be recorded as a WAV file. To record, just press the centre button on the device, a orange light will be lit and recording begins. To stop, just press the button again.

This device also allow you to turn it into an voice mail machine. You can set the greeting message to read out and enable the voice mail service after a number of seconds ring before voice mail picks up the phone. See diagram below.

Below is an interface to retreive the voice mails or converaation recordings. Here is a sample recording I made. Although I can record it clearly for voice calls, the recording level of Skype calls seems to be softer.
