Interface and Functionality

The N80's interface is similar to most of the Symbian phones. It looks similar to the N91 too. One of the difference is that on the N80, you can press a fast access key where you can go directly to Visual Radio, Image Show, Music Player, Web and Configure as shown in the diagram below. Alternatively, you can press the menu button and you will see the menu in the picture below (left). As usual, the menu has all the options for you to access the basic functionalities like messaging, contacts, calendar, music player, gallery, imaging (photo/video), clock, services (internet or wap), My own (includes more options), connect for connectivity options, Office for office file viewers, converters, recorders, calculator etc. Lastly, tools which allows you to configure themes, settings, run settings wizard, run the application manager, file manager, check memory card and transfer (for contacts transfer).

Clicking on the services icon on the menu screen will bring you to search for an access point (WIFI) or you can pre-configure it to take your GPRS or 3G connection as default. If the access point is WEP encrypted, it will challenge you with the WEP key. Otherwise, you can surf the net just like what you normally do on a notebook or PDA, albeit on a small screen.
